As your Integrative Health and Holistic Nurse Coach, it is my job to partner with you to find your highest potential for healthy change and realization of your life goals. This process happens through deep listening, reflection, asking many questions, and inviting you to try some exercises that can help you expand your knowledge of your strengths and challenges. Together, we will be exploring the stories that you tell yourself and how they differ from the stories that you want to and were meant to be living. It is my duty to empower you to access your inner wisdom. By inquiring and exploring this untapped yet powerful resource within, you will find answers, direction, motivation, and new perspectives that start a healing process reaching beyond a single symptom or diagnosis.
Some Benefits of Integrative Health Coaching:
In order to maintain the integrity of the coach-client relationship, I will always let you know when I am switching to the role of Holistic Nurse Practitioner to share some guidance or advice that I feel is important for your health. Your job throughout this process is to stay open-minded, curious, honest, and motivated. Through this openness, we will come up with strategies and tasks for you to employ in your own time. These strategies and tasks will vary greatly and will always be generated by your own revelations and instincts. I will help you clarify them and follow up on your progress. Just remember there is no judging or grading in the coaching relationship. I will respect your intuition; anything you choose to do or not do between sessions is an opportunity for growth that we can explore when we meet.
I have studied at the Wildflower School of Botanical Medicine here in Austin and am a practicing community herbalist. This means that I make or recommend herbal medicine that is made locally from clean and sustainable sources. I make remedies for symptoms of chronic stress and pain.
If I do not have what you need, I have a relationship with local clinical herbalists and apothecaries to meet your needs. Treatments include different teas, tinctures, salves, and the like to help ease anxiety, insomnia, tension, and discomfort in a gentle, natural way. I believe in Food As Medicine and can help you enhance your dietary choices with nutritive herbs and tonics. The goal of plant medicine is not to put you on a treatment regimen indefinitely, but to support you through a healing process so that you will not need any prolonged treatment.
If you are burned-out, chronically stressed, or increasingly tense, your body is trying to tell you something. By using mind-body-spirit exercises and powerful questioning, I can help you decipher what your body needs in order to face your stress with resilience and perspective.
We can work together to reduce your sense of overwhelm, tackle your fears, calm your nervous system, and develop a routine that keeps you ahead of your stress symptoms. Stress affects all of us, manifests in different ways, and is more prevalent than ever. You have the tools within you to ease this burden on your mind, body, and soul; I can help you develop and enhance them.
Chronic Pain and Disease
When a pain condition, injury, or illness becomes chronic, it is imprinted in our nervous systems. It becomes a state of being as much as a physical condition. I know this from personal experience.
A teacher of mine once said, “your pain does not reside in your head, but the cure may very well be in your head.”
With relaxation techniques, affirming language, deep listening, and mind-body-spirit exercises, together we can coax your nervous system out of being stuck in a painful, frightened state. I can help you find the optimal balance between your daily functioning and restorative self-care. Living with a chronic pain condition or illness does not mean you have to stop living your life. In fact, it may mean that you start to live your life more fully and deeply.
Nurses, nurse practitioners, and health workers in general are a special breed of people. I have been a nurse since 1999 and an NP since 2007. I know that nurses have a tendency to expect the world from themselves while doing everything to take that same expectation off other people.
We tend to hold stress in our bodies and are often terrible patients when it is our turn to receive care. If you are a nurse or other healthcare worker, I can help you set your boundaries, reduce your stress, overcome your paralyzing overwhelm, and employ grounding self-care techniques. You are a vital, invaluable healer with everything you need to find your best path forward for you and your patients. I can help you shine a light on what you have been missing.
